Refinishing rvf fork lowers

I'm after touching up some tatty RVF fork lowers, I'm going to gt the springs and bushes replaced shortly Nd thought while they're off I'd mask everything up, rub the lowers down and respray them.

What would be best to respray them with? I was thinking hammer right "smoothrite" in silver, would this be hard wearing enough?

I really don't want to completely dissmantle them and powder coat them.

Any advice from anyone who has refinished their forks would be appreciated.

Cheers
Luke

Luke. even normal halfords rattle tins will offer a good finish thats hard wearing enough.
Ford mercury grey for the nice close to OE look, and a light coat of clear laquer after.
its all in the prep as you know.
