anybody know where i can get a hi flow air filter for a 3tj? ive been looking for a few days now and i cant find any and i think the 4/6 hybrid needs to flow a bit more air. the bottom and midrange rock but just needs a bit of crispness in upper reaches of the rev range.im using a 400/600 bitsa airbox but its the same volume as the 400 and a bit more fresh air wouldnt go amiss-any ideas peeps?

There isn't one for a TJ. The 1WG can use a FZR600 but it's to high for the TJ.

There was one guy who used a K+N from a Mini (BL A Series) in the hole left by taking the snorkel off. I think I remember he fitted it with the filter outside, but with less space between the carbs and fuel tank it might be better to mount facing inside.

Or do something with pod filters inside the airbox

if you know the measurements i think the k&n site has a listing of different sizes with part numbers, you might be able to find something on there. (if its not the official site i know there is one i looked on berfore i'll try and find it again! :D )

thanks for that i will check it out and do some measuring and maybe cross reference some of the dimensions.there are some filters on e-bay(pattern) that say the fzr600 89-93 is the same as the 90-92 fzr400 so i will start there-cheers

If you want i can check as i have both bikes. I seem to think the 400s is a bit shorter though!

Well i've had a look (I now have 5 bikes in bits in the garage ) The fzr 600 filter is about 5mm longer than the 400 but the diameter is the same. If you junk the K&N rubber seating seal and carefully remove and use the thinner seal from the 400 filter then it will just fit. The K&N part no for the 600 is YA-6089, this fits all 3HE models (89-93).

thanks tim youve confirmed what i thought- that the two filters are very alike,im gonna get a k&n for a 3he ordered today il let you know how i get on.carburation isnt as good as i first thought-the bottom and midrange are great but the top is a bit hesitant-it wont rev cleanly at the top.ive also got a factory pro ti needle and jet kit to try and sort any fuelling probs also the pipe i had on the 400 might be upsetting the fuelling too its for a late r6 so im gonna put the standard can back on and start there-cheers-steve
