Okay so i searched on here about removing the rear disc without taking the hub off. well ive removed one of the nuts, but the allen bolts dont come off. its just about to come off but it hits the hub so i cant remove the bolt from the disc... any ideas?

I think alex witham got the disc off without removing the hub,

I would try the following,

Remove the caliper obviously,

Undo the hub pinch bolt the 17mm one, take the chain off the sprocket,

Then use the hub/chain adjuater to rotate it so you can get to each nut and bolt i think it could be done.

Failing that remove the hub...

okay i will try that, thanks. Kieran i dont want to remove the hub, because i dont have any other sort of stand to keep the bike up. and i dont have a 46mm socket.

I was wondering when you were gonna ask this question, remove the hub plain and simple.

Get a pair of axle stands under where the footpegs join the heel plate and borrow/buy a 46mm socket to do it, going to be much easier than faffing around doing it with the hub in place i bet.

an abba sand costs over 100 quid.

and im using aftermarket rear sets. and they are aluminium so if i use an axle stand itl probably brake.

If you haven't got the tools to do the job, either get the tools or pay seomeone with the tools. If you can afford either option then just sell the bike.

Sounds like you're going to do a bad job of it and either kill yourself, or someone else.

no.... im removing the rear disc bolt just now, but as usual. everything in the bike is corroded and the last nut is stripped so i cant even attempt to remove it. great job previous owner.

is there anything i can do to remove the nut? an angle grinder could work by skimming the nut thin and then chisel it in half, but i dont have one.
