NC30 not firing

Post by NC30Dubz »

This bike is beginning to do my nut.. Constant problems but i dont want to get rid of it just yet.

I replaced the reg/rec and re-wired a new male connecting block due to the bike battery going dead quite often. Also changed the spark plugs about 3 weeks ago.
After replacing those parts, i started it up (saturday night) to make sure i hadnt done anything wrong, started up fine so i turned it off straight after.
Monday morning i come to start it up and it doesnt fire. At all. I charged the battery overnight, and this morning i found time to change the rear plugs, it kinda sounded like it was trying to catch, but i couldnt be sure.

Any help would be appreciated, it would also stop me pulling my eyeballs out in frustration!

The bikes are usually sorted..it is just an owner that needs a few tweaks

It has been found that starting the bike and then turning it off again very soon will cause it not to start as the plugs do not like it -I suspect they get a touch wet as they do not get hot enough to burn off any residual petrol.

My advice woiuld be to whip out the rear plugs, get them nice and dry on a gas hob and then get it started..and let it get hot enough to trigger the fan..and then turn it off. :geek:

yep +1 for flooded.
Remove the plugs, clean and try again.
Starting technique, full choke and DO NOT touch the throttle or rev it. once fired it will sort itself out and reduce the choke accordingly.
you get used to it, the RC30 is exactly the same so its not just a 400 thing

Agreed. Although, I find that usually, if for some reason it stalls when you've just started it, leaving it five minutes without touching the starter works fine, as long as you haven't had the bike churning over endlessly before deciding to give it a rest. As yet, I've never had to resort to whipping the plugs out, but there's always a first time!

Thanks for your help so far guys, i just got home from work to your comments :) took the rear plugs out, over the hob for about 20 seconds (hot to the touch) put em back in, full choke on and she nearly started, could hear the rear 2 trying their best. Going to take all 4 out and repeat the procedure. Time to get dirty!

You guys.. Are geniuses i swear. Took all of them out, warmed em up, replaced them, took a minute or two but she started! Ran until the fan came on, let it cool down and it started it up again, fired first time. Thank you so much :)

Everytime ive had an issue, ive always came here for your help and 99% ive always had a better outcome than i started with. Much love for you all!
