SF version R: What's different about it?

Post by earthbound14 »

So I have a 97 CB400SF version R. Got the paper work saying it's a 97, got the front Brembo calipers to tell me she's an R. And of course my load ass Yoshi.

That's all I know about the difference. anyone else know what might be different about the Version R bikes compared to other SF models?

It also has:

- the Bolt-on exhaust system with black down pipes as opposed to the complete exhaust system with stainless steel downpipes

- Slightly different rear end

- Not only version R but it has the fuel gauge (which is different to the very first BP1s). The newer BP1's also had this

- I believe the handles at the back also have the lock for the helmet

- Different Paint schemes

I have a 1995 Version R and it has Nissin calipers rather than Brembo ones.

It has screw-on bar ends, which I think is also different.

It has a fairing (not that it does anything useful, just looks cool!) and a rectangular headlight, but then you probably knew that ;)

Bugie:
What's different about the rear end then?

What handles?

Sorry Alex, It seems like I was mistaken..

I was just browsing through your gallery and saw your bike. It was the Version S with a different rear end which can be seen below:

The handles are the ones that stick out from under the seat on either side
