NC30 Overflow

Post by iDemonix »

Hi all!

I've been gone a while as I got a new job and moved out from my parents down to Banbury, life is extremely skint at the moment as I had to buy a car, get a flat, furnish etc, all before starting the job and getting paid!

As such, the bike is still with the parents in Nottingham, the engine transplant is half complete, just need to tie a few loose ends which I'd like to get done over xmas.

Now:

When removing the old upper rad I snapped off the little metal overflow thing (it was ruined anyway, pissed coolant all over the side of the bike every hot day) so I've got an eBay rad "that will do until I have money" for £20. I've removed the old expansion tank that sits by the rear brake reservoir.

What are people using for the overflow bottle, and where are you putting it? I recall someone on here (Rick maybe?) used a Cow & Gate milk bottle and cable tied it to the coolant pipe?

If you want one those HRC type overflow bottles (used but good) with some silicone hose (red) then PM me your address and I'll send a kit over to you.

Image

You can see it cable tied to the headlight housing. It's ultimately just a bottle with some hose about 2 feet long going to the 'nipple' on the top of the rad, nothing too flash.

Just for searching purposes I've found a better bottle than the cow and gate one,

Boots do a fruit juice/squash for babys for 75p and its a clear bottle thicker than the cow and gate bottle

Yeah if you wanna do away with about a kilo of weigh, but youll need to keep an eye on coolant levels and that the system is in tiptop working conditions

Bottle received thanks :D

Looking forward to fitting it, thanks for the long length of Silicon, might have to cut that down a bit!
