Brake Lines EN2 Frame, TCAT front end, R1 Calies, 3TJ Master
Help, I don't know much about brake lines, I just thought they were a certain length with little silver hoops at each end!
I've got a TCAT front end on my EN2, with R1 99' Calipers and a 3TJ master cylinder mounted on risers and a custom straight handle bar.
I've tried borrowing some new 99' R1 front lines front work on the basis that I could offer them up and just order longer ones. Unfortunately, there seems to be very very little play in the angle of the banjo bolts.
I know I need some lines about 5" longer each side than the R1 lines, but I've know idea how to measure or specify, - or even find out the right angle of the banjo bolts at either end. - All I know is that they don't twist to a position that's easy to mount at both ends (typically just the caliper end lines up).
I can force twist one end to fit the master cylinder with a pair of pliers, but I figure this can't be good on the lines. Any advice on ordering, speccing up custom lines would be appreciated? - otherwise, I may just get an R1 master cylinder and order longer R1 lines. - But i'd rather not spend more than I need to.

For the length if you can fully decompress the forks, jacking up under the exhaust should be ok this will be the maximum length the lines will reach e.g coming over humps that extend the forks. Add a couple of inches to allow for bending to the calipers etc. As for the angle and having to use pliers, you can get angled ends which may help sort that but also a bit more extra length might help it route better by giving more radius to the bend needed. is what i needed to do with the race bike front!

The TJ master has a 90 degree angle between the mount and the banjo fitting. Because you have straight bars you'll be better off with a 90 degree banjo so the line will run parallell to the bar.
Measure with the bike jacked up on the frame / engine / pipes so the front wheel is off the floor and the forks are fully extended measur the difference between the standard length and the master ... or use a steel tape measure with no sharp bends ... then add a bit

Perfect, thanks for the advice (measuring up was interesting, I think I only nearly dropped the bike twice!), the aerotech link got me searching under custom brake line kits after I figured out how long they needed to be and I ended up ordering some similar bits from Goodridge through work.
I've now got a pair of 800mm lines on the way, along with the required banjo adaptors and bolts.

Just for future reference if anyone is doing this same combination, consider ordering something closer to 750mm lines - excluding the banjo bolt length (if you are using flat bars on risers). I received 825mm in the end (I added a bit on at the last minute for good measure).
825mm or even 800 leaves way to much slack. I've dealt with it using some PClips and home-made brackets off the horn mount to keep it tidy, but it's not 100% ideal and I'll probably replace them with shorter ones long term.
On the up side, the banjo bolts on the Goodridge Buildaline kits, swivel even after you screw them into the lines, so it's dead easy to get everything angled and lined up 100%.
