Parts advice.

Hi guys,

My winter rebuild has come to a bit of a stand still, due to not having enough time. I plan to order some parts in so I can fit them over the Xmas holiday. Some expert advice and guidance is always appreciated.

The bike is currently stripped down to frame, engine, forks, and wheels.

Forks need new seals, was considering putting the Rick O kit in while i'm at it? Is this a good plan, and what else will I need?

Is it worth getting the fork lowers powdercoated? (NI guys can help me out with the cheapest and best places!)

Brakes are getting stripped and cleaned. Will I need to replace seals? Or can they be reused? I take it Pistons should be replaced if pitted? Any special bits of kit requred to do this job?

I've also bars and grips to fit, and a few pieces to tidy up, then onto the misery of body work.

Also, any guys in NI know of where to get wheels painted or coated? Looking a nice HRC gold!

The Rick O fork kit is a good option, your needs new seals and maybe bushes if the old ones are knackered. Its always nice to have the lower powdercoated if you can.

Brake calipers seals......Ive reused them before but only after a good inspection, clean and regrease with red rubber grease. There your brakes at the end of the day and although its quite pricey to replace the seals its cheaper than having them leak and fail.

Unless you have a vice crack open the caliper half bolts while there still on the bike or your struggle getting them undone. Your need some kind of piston tool to remove the pistons with ease, cheap enough on ebay.

HRC gold wheels....oh yes :peace:
