Hiya all,

I haven't rode the cbr400 for 3 months now, and i am now thinking about storing her away for the winter, and just running and keeping the other bike clean over the winter.

She has been on the abba stand, battery charger on, and full petrol tank for th last 3 months.

Putting fuel stabiliser into bike and storing away. Does it need Need to be fresh petrol?

Or can I just bung the stabiliser into the existing petrol, and warm the engine thoroughly, to make sure the stabiliser has gone right though the carbs etc?

Hope you can advise!

Cheers
Martin

Personally, I tend to empty the tank completely, remove it from the bike and leave the filler open. I then run the bike till it cuts out to drain fuel from the carbs.

Much cheaper :peace:

Do this if you want to promote condensation and then rust in your tank.....

Alternatively turn your fuel off, run the bike until it dies and leave for winter, come spring a freshly charged battery and a squirt of easy start and the bike will fire up, don't bother with additives and anyone who tells you fuel goes 'off' needs a slap.

my mate used to leave his RC30 for upto a nine months at a time in a container. Using the petrol from months ago it would start first time on the button and his carbs never gum up either no special precautions taken, although i believe its an alloy tank. I leave my bike for a week and its a pain to start.. jealous..
