I have noticed that the switchgear on my nc30 is sun bleached and looks pretty poor so I was wondering if anyone had a decent magic trick for restoring them ? It`s either that or buy new.
Sorry if there is an old thread relating to this but I cant find any info on the net I can rely on.
Many thanks in advance for an assistance.

dont try this on the switchgear first but i think a heatgun will bring the oils to the surface and make it look better.

Try it on something scrap first!

Take the switchgear apart. A bit of old engine oil on a rag. Rub it in well. Won't be perfect but it'll look 100% better :peace:

Car accessories shops sell many different types of silicon and gel products for black trim bumpers etc but they wash off through time . Sovex do a restorer paint in a tube with a foam applicator its a bit like those shoe polish type applicators . Someone put a link up before for another restorer with a video for a chemical non silicon type stuff that revived faded trim on cars claimed it was a long term solution?

Thank you for your advice, i will strip them down and try the oil first and see how that goes.
The heat gun i will try after, maybe a combnation of both will have an improved effect.

I do remember a restorer years ago on amazing discoveries now you mention it. Ill have a good search round the net for it and see if i can find it. I think it all stemmed from 80s cars that had badly faded bumpers

With a little bit of rewiring and shall i say "low cost" you can replace them with this for L/H

taken from a 95 cbr900 model

and this for R/H taken from a 07 cbr600

Spraying them with silicon or oil will NOT last.

I have to admit they do look better but ill give them the oil treatment as a stop gap until replacement.
If i remember rightly didnt the original headlight switch have an issue with running euro spec bulbs - im assuming this would also remedy this problem?

Yes, the original h/l switch did have this problem (the high beam switch to be more specific).

BUT, This R/H headlight switch WILL NOT remedy the issue until you install relays for both high and low beam.
