I'm wanting to make the act of pulling the clutch as easy as possible, I'm going to order a venhill or similar cable shortly and was wondering what was the best idea for replacing the clutches plates.

Am I best getting a standard replacement EBC clutch or going for their Kevlar plates?

It's not that the standard action is a pain, I'd just like to improve it.

I have seen the nc24 hydraulic clutch link mod, but don't currently have the cash or inclination to go that far in to it.

Clutch action should be smooth with a cable that's in good condition. The clutch is always going to be heavier than modern bikes unless you fit the hydraulic IMO.

Would a Kevlar ebc clutch be a harder pull?

I wouldn't think the type of plates would have any effect on how hard the clutch is, just the amount/strength of clutch springs you have in there.

Plates won't affect it, only the springs.

Why not get a Honda clutch cable?

A new one will make it smooth to pull.

Set the clutch up properly and replace any plates / frictions that are worn and make sure there are no grooves in the basket fingers.

Use clean new oil and it should be nice

Ok, thanks for the advice new cable on the way, will take the clutch plates out and check them at the weekend

Changing the clutch lever to a new well greased one made a big difference on mine.
