NC35 Carb issues
Hi all,
Iv being told my carbs need stripping & cleaning due to the fact they are blocked or clogged, iv only had it just over a month from a dealership, and it came with a warranty, so my question is , would they of got blocked & clogged in 6 weeks because it sounds like there trying to put the blame on me for going on reserve tank twice...
Cheers
Ethan

No the fuel tap is filtered even on reserve, there just trying to get out of it as always. Live and learn and don't buy from a dealer again
And if they've got that attitude i wouldn't be letting them near a set of NC carbs anyway, your only end up with more trouble and without a bike for months on end until you finally decide to give it to someone that knows what there doing and fix it properly.
What running problems are you having?

Hi,
Cheers for that, it was from route 65 which is ment to be a classic bike dealer, so i had a bit of confidence in him.... lesson to be learnt for next time. i think ill get them to do the best they can, then book it in for a propper service soon :)

Ah route 65, i bet they emptied your wallet for the privilege too. For the price they sold it too you dam right they should be putting it right, take it back and tell em to cut the bullshit and honor the warranty.
You running to reserve had nothing to do with the problem, if it did then the tank must have been full of shit and the filter missing or partially missing which if it was then its their fault for selling it to you like that.

Take it back, get them to sort it for free as per warranty.

Re: NC35 Carb issues
Yup, what they said. I've had my NC35 for almost 10 years. I rarely fill up before reserve, and I've run clean out on more than one occasion. I've NEVER had any running issues afterwards. It's more likely the fuel evaporated while the bike was waiting to be sold and crap built up in the carbs and there's enough that it has now clogged something up. You might get away with running some carb cleaner in the fuel. If not, tell them to sort it or you'll lodge a complaint against them with Trading Standards, especially if they gave a warranty. In any case, I believe even a private seller can now be persued in cases where a vehicle goes dodgy a while after being sold, even if 'sold as seen' if you can prove they were aware it might not be quite right.
Edit: just had a look at what they have for sale. £5K for an RS250 or ZXR400? Are they taking the piss? Christ knows what they wanted for those RCs!!

Re: NC35 Carb issues
If the warranty / after-sales service is as shitty as that then paying stupidly over the top can't be justified at all.
Last year, or maybe the year before there were quite a few new old stock ZXR400s still in the crates for sale, I think they were around 3500

Re: NC35 Carb issues
It amazes me why people buy these bikes at stupidly high prices, there rarely ever serviced properly when they come in and sold on at silly prices because some people have the illusion that because there a dealer that the bike must be better than the rest. You might aswell just throw a couple of grand down the toilet.

Re: NC35 Carb issues
Cheers guys, i got it for 3000, and it was on the fact its only my 2nd bike, after riding a 125 for a few years. The main reason i didnt mind paying a bit more was i thought id have the warrenty as safety, not gonna do that again!!! There taking it in on tuesday so ill see what they say, but im deffently not paying for a thing after what you've said. The main thing that annoyed me was we said "well you did completely run out of fuel once didnt you... so thats when somthing got pulled though into the carbs" and the reason i did was when i got it they left it on reserve tank so when i ran out i had nothing as a back up....!!!
