Do nc29 make good commuters?!

Hiya

Do nc29 make good commuters?!

Reason I ask:
1) I find i sit really low and crouched over, compared to the cbr6 - lack of visibility to drivers when doing filtering
- I have some nasty single/dual carriageway bits on way to work
- headlights seem to sit to low compared to cbr6

2) lights are dim and low - HID light conversion needed?!
3) petrol tank range - 15L
4) starting carbs on cold morning/winter evenings, leaving out to the elements in car park?!
5) shame to ruin a nice summer bike over winter salt months!
6) I have summer tyres on, not great in rain. Will have to swap tyres for winter

Hope you can advise
Cheers
Martin

Hi Marty, well you can use the 29 as a commuter , i do 60 miles a day, but they are not the best bike i suppose being around 3/4 the size of most bikes, even 125s tower over me. I think higher longer bars with a more upright commanding view would be ideal but thats not the 29 is it? As far as filtering i just tend to be a little louder just adding a bit clutch slip to wake people up of my coming through intentions.

As far as lights go, do the lo beam mod and get some Philips Etreme bulbs, they are about the best you will get due to having small reflectors you will never get as good as a car, on saying that i go down some roads that have a black hole at the end and they still are a lot better than oem. Do the mod it makes sense in bad weather.

Petrol tank range. I fill up every day regardless, but i think at a pinch i could just fill up every other day (120 miles) I just dare not risk it.

Yes my bike does get a tad harder to start if left out overnight in damp coditions, always a worry but i carry a spare battery in the tail just in case. Not needed it yet.

Dave

Get a CBR600F4 (F-X / F-Y). Oh, and I happen to have one for sale! ;)

Thanks for the reply Durka Durka!
Apologies about the delay in reply, not on this site much

Yup, what I've been thinking.

I reckon a good commuter in summer, but winter? Don't fancy cold starts to go home with!

I'll stick to the CBR6F4i - it really seems bullet proof WRT starting - regardless if left for a month etc!

Well if you already have a cbr600 i thought it would have been your answer andyou wouldnt need to ask if the 400 is a good conmuter. Just me though. I have an nc23 and would have thought it up to the job minus the cold winter bum you get from the seat
