rev drops quickly as clutch is let out (normal?)

This is a RVF400 from '94.

not sure if this is a problem or not but i'll feel more confident if i can get some second opinions.

when idleing it's around 2K-2.5K. so when i'm in stationary and first gear, as i let the clutch out and give it some gas the rev goes up but just as the clutch engages the rev quickly drops to less than 2K but then quickly picks up as the bike takes off.

i was out on my other bike (cbt250rr) today and i noticed that the transition when letting out the clutch was much smoother (rpm hardly dropping) so that made me wonder.

what do you guys think? something to worry about?

Completely normal, thats what happens when you let the clutch out although it shouldnt be ticking over at 2-2.5k, more like 1.5k

As DM has said, sounds normal, different bikes will have different clutches so practice becoming smoother, over time you will become smoother when you are used to it.

Clutch could also be worn which is why it is jerky / snatchy.

And yep, turn the idle down.

1300rpm ish is about right
