Having a poke around the new to me bike & noticed a couple of issues.....
The tyre has worn a bit of the undertray away on the left - the swingarm pivot bolt threads stick out about about 5mm past the frame - I don't recall this on my last '30, the tyre runs very, like verrrry close to the chainguard too, any ideas - could a spacer have been left out been previous dis/assembly.

I had a look at the back brake as it's binding a bit, the caliper mounting bracket doesn't run centrally each side of the disc, in fact it's been lightly catching the disc - all looks ok, just not centrally. Can the hub drop bracket that the caliper & bracket mount to, be slightly out of true?
The "sliding" pad had been incorrectly located, so the pistons have actually bent the pad backing plate as the pad couldn't slide!

There is no spacers on the stock wheel set up, however the gouge/rub you talk about i believe is common, as mine has one however i dont find it an issue, it was caused by one of the following, wrong tyre (too wide), fucked shock, causeing excessive play, baddly adjusted preload, or to much weight of rider and pilion, or last maybe it bottomed out over a bridge or the like,

HI may be worth a look at the caliper pins check the caliper is moving freely that they are not bent and free from rust , maybe also look to see if any of the caliper pistons are sticking , ?cheers c

I would have thought that there should be plenty of clearance between tyre & undertray etc to allow full suspension movement, it's obviously marginal clearance if others have done it too.

The caliper sliders are free, the pistons are sticking a bit & need a rebuild but that doesn't explain why the disc doesn't run centrally between the caliper mounting bracket?

Nope, the rub marks are even around the disc.

I'm wondering if the hub drop bracket is bent slightly?

Take it all off, clean it up and reassemble it according to the microfiche / service manual.

Parts that dont fit without a hammer should be easier to spot then, grease up the sliers nice (no copper grease)

Never had an issue with the mudgard rubbing the wheel, there should be a lot of clearnace unles you have a knackered shock at some point? Even with pillion there is good space.

Cheers, I have sorted the back brake by realigning the hub drop bracked with a hammer - the caliper bracket is central now.

I'm sure there is something amis with the swingarm pivot/spacer as there is 5mm of thread sticking out past the frame the swingarm does look close to the left frame & footpeg.

The bike could be a bit of a bitsa.

The NC35 swingingarm is narrower than the NC30. perhaps you have some kind of wrong axle?
