Went to change the exhaust on the bike and found that one of the studs was snapped and it was being held on by one. As a temp to use the bike as it seemed to have sealed before on one I tried again and this time the other snapped.
One has snapped with some of the stud sticking out and the other has snapped off inside the head.

My question is does anyone know of a good way of sorting these without having to resort to taking the heads off? Not overly happy at the moment with it, not the best of starts

For the one thats sticking out use either a stud extractor or weld a nut on, the one thats snapped off inside carefully drill out and re-tap. You may have to do this with the sticking out one also as its likely to just snap off inside when trying to remove it unless your lucky. If you end up wrecking the thread when drilling out then a heli coil is the next option.

Ok, guessing its going to be rads off to make life a bit easier, are they easy enough to bleed out?

Yes and yes

If you use a stud extractor, then my sure you apply some heat first and possibly some penetrating oil. Also try and drill out as much of the snapped bolt as possible to give yourself the best shot at getting is out. If the extractor snaps, then the problem becomes about 50 times worse!

hi be careful if u drill out the stud make a note of its depth , if u go to deep u may go into the water jacket plenty of care and time when removin it and heat and oil will help on the other.
