Carb Clamps

Either my carbs were missing a clamp or I've misplaced one, can't remember, but I've searched high and low in the garage and can't find one. Anyone know where I can get one that's similar to the others, or just the size so I can get a hose clip that'd fit.

I've just moved to Oxford, bike is back in Notts, so hoping to buy parts today then go back at the weekend and get the carbs, airbox, tank etc fitted and think about firing up the new engine for the first time on Sunday!

Also, carb rubbers, I've not left mine soaking in petrol, will soak 'em Friday night but are they cheap to buy for the sake of it?

Cheers,
Dan

The only carb rubber iv been able to find so far are from rick oliver for £35!
I thought it was quite steep for some tubes of rubber!

Soaking them in petrol is much cheaper than buying new.

No idea on the clips.

new carb rubbers (RVF items) can make a difference of hours refitting carbs and if the old ones are rigid and stiff just replace them, its worth every penny.

FWIW i just stripped the carbs on my CBR6 and have just ordered new rubbers (44 quid) as i know there will be no chance of airleaks (i reckon there was before) and is just worth doing.

Would a few cuts of silicone hose do the job?

Can't really afford new rubber atm, just moved so need white goods, sofas etc! Not cheap at all, every penny counts.

Anyone got an old set of carbs I could buy one off, or know someone with a spare? Otherwise I'll just have to wait until I get home and measure (unless anyone has one to measure?) and buy a hose/jubilee clip.

Clamps are different from NC30 to 35. DSS have NC30 ones in stock (16219-KE7-010) at £3.95 ex vat. Rubbers (16211-ML0-720) are £6.50 ex vat, in stock too. The ones on my 35 are probably original, so I got some new ones from CMS with my other bits. The bands currently fitted to mine look knackered, so I won't have any spare when I swap the carbs. You're probably looking at in excess of 50mm if you use a jubilee clip, but note that the bands are fairly narrow.

I live just up the road in Witney mate, so if you need a hand give me a shout. Got a spare set of carbs but no spare rubbers can measure up the clips for you though.

The nc35 clamps use a better fastener than the 30 clamps, best to get them if you're buying new.

I fin the biggest thing to get the carbs on easily is to get the carb rubbers warm. I just drop them in a pot of boiling water just before fitting.
