Hi all

I have a vfr nc 30 and was just curious about something.

I watched a clip on the internet of a guy removing the ristrictors from the rubbers on the bottom of the carbs was just wondering what effect this will have on the performace of the motorcycle and are there any adjustments that need to be done to the carbs once this had been done.

Any answers will be greatly appreciated

Safe biking
Cheers Mike

Unless im mistaken there arent any restrictors in the carb rubbers, the only reason there would be is if the bike needed to be restriced to 33bhp for a restricted license and those would be metal discs with holes cut in the middle which you just pull out i think. The only other restriction is on the jap spec bikes which are limited to 112mph, theres a few ways to get round this a search would bring it up for you.

the restrictors reduce the intake size to the carbs so less fuel and air mixture gets into the cylinder reducing power output! the main affect is the bike will max out at around 6-8000rpm instead of 15-16000.
like kieran said its only for those who have a full but restricted license below or equal to 33bhp and need to reduce the original power of the bike down for insurance purposes!

yep as stated above , any restriction in the carb rubbers will be of a large waser type with a hole in the middle purley to reduce the standard bhp down to the 33bhp limit for restricted licence holders , most people would of just whacked them in and ran the bike as is, by removing them your just returning the bike back to normal power , i know my bike had them in when i bought it and on inspection it was running stock jetting and ran ok with them in and ran as it should when i removed them , i went up a jet size all round when i changed the stock pipe to a tsr half system

The restrictors are a UK thing to make the bike meet UK requirements for restricted licence riders.

The bike did not come with them as standard so unless somebody has fitted them they might not be there unless you know they are.

It is easy to check for them.
