CBR400 Tyre - road use - advise please

Hi,

I have an NC23 running Bridgestone Battlaxe BT090's front and back (120/60 R17 and 150/60 R18 respectively), but due to my daily motorway commute I find that the rear in particular is wearing out very quickly down the centre. Can anyone recommend a better tyre/setup? Needs to be good in the wet as used daily, and long lasting. Ideally some grip in the dry would also be a bonus!!!

Many thanks!
Chris

You could try BT92's, very much like the 90's but wear a lot slower and not much less grip

You want some sports touring tyres - Michelin Pilot Road 2 / 3, Dunlop Roadsmart 1 / 2, Bridgestone BT-023. You will have to go to a 160 rear. BT-016 is an option but I wouldn't bother as it'll be worse in the wet and shorter lifespan. Modern sports touring tyres are plenty grippy enough for having fun in the dry.

Or look at the new range of Contis. They've just released a load of popular 80s sizes including standard 18" NC rears :peace:

I use pirelli diablos. Cheapest of the range and my rear last approx 10,000 miles, mostly high speed motorways. Although they do start to flat fairly quickly and can be felt mainly on rough surfaced roundabouts they never lose grip and always feel safe despite the flat. The slighly higher price touring version is a few mill thicker tread.

Talking to some bike cops about the same problem they recomended pilots.
