I've currently got a ninja 250 but am extremely bored so I'm now looking at getting a NC35.

Are there any known faults with these bikes?

Your help is much appreciated.

The standard electrical system (reg/rect particularly) is a known weakness but can be made reliable quite easily.

When you say the standard electrical system what exactly are you referring to? I'm not very mechanical minded. Pretty much gonna take it to the shop and get them to look at it before I buy it and just tell them what to look for.

I knew nothing about motor mechanics til I joined this forum, some extremely helpful people on here

Just don't pull a xivlia on us...

He said "standard electrical system" because that is the most common problem. The regulator/rectifier on these bikes is really weak. It is one of the first things to get upgraded on most of these bikes. For me, I like the looks of the 30 better than the 35 but the 35 comes with inverted forks (no better functionally than the 30 forks) and a 17" rear wheel.

If the bike you are looking at is well looked after, the NC35 is a great bike.

Mate, if your not interested in some home mechanics, have no where to work on a bike, no tools then a 35 is not for you. buy a nice CBR6 or something more modern and stress free instead.

However the 35 like all old bikes will have issues, and of course it all depends on the bike you buy. buy a cheap shed expect i to cost more to fix up and maintain, buy one thats been looked after buy an enthusiast then expect less hassle.
see the buyers guide, but i will echo that you buy the best you can find not the cheapest.

The problem is I'm only on my P's which means there are certain bikes I cant ride. Must be on the approved list and bikes like the CBR600, R6 and gixxer 600's arent on the list, which means here in australia I cant legally ride them.

I can however but an RVF400 and ride it making it the fastest approved bike on the list. there is no bike faster.

I'm keen to learn more about bikes. I do have a shed in the back and a plethora of tools. Just dont have the experience or know how. (yet).

Silky, had my 35 a year now, done 4000 miles on it (have rt1200 too). It was well looked after, and although I have changed battery, pads and end can, I've had nothing else to do, apart from service. I could afford a panigale, and wife would not object, but I prefer the 35. Worth making the effort to learn mechanics, good luck finding a good one....

I prefer ANYTHING over the panigale...
