Snapped throttle Cable...

Now then!

Not had to post in here so far but there's a first time for everything...

Was out on the bike on Sunday just coming off a roundabout when my throttle cable snapped!

Managed to get it home by removing the housing and pulling the cable and cable tie-ing it in place so it revved to 3k.

Bought a new throttle cable on the bay (it's definitely the PULL one) just awaiting it's arrival.

In the meantime, I have got my tank off and can see the other end of the throttle cable but don't know if I will have to take the side panels off to access it or not? Please can somebody in the know enlighten me

Also. how difficult is it to do?

Cheers!

You'll need your mid panels off, tank and airbox too. It's quite fiddly so patience is key.

A short 10mm open end spanner is essential.

You'll need to make sure you route the cable properly, and check for adjustment etc.

Have fun ;)

Will get the mid panels off tomorrow and hope my new cable arrives.

Right!

Cable arrived today and i fitted it successfully (or so I thought)

Reconnected all the pipes, turned fuel tap back to ON and killswitch ON
Put all the panels back on and it started, wahey!

Ran for about 2 minutes then died, and I noticed my accelerator was slack so I adjusted it and it started again and died after 20 seconds or so.

Not sure what I've done wrong, Is it an airlock or something?

Would appreciate some advise please

you put your vacuum pipe on the vent spigot by chance and not the vacuum side lol ? its where my money is.
put the vacuum on the nipple thats the furthest to the right as you sit on it if that makes sense

I did that once and then got a mate to help me run it up and down the road for 10 mins trying to bump start it. Won't make that mistake again in a hurry.
