Fork setup

Anyone got any good tips on setting preloads. New to biking so new to setting preloads etc, but the front end on my 3tj just seem way to soft. Also how do I know there are set right or is this just rider preference? I had the seals done but took them to the garage off the bike but ever since its just seemed soft.

Thanks

Seth

The std 3tj has no adjustment.

It would have to be done using spacers.

as levo said the 3tj forks aren't adjustable,
well not without taking em apart and changing the spacers to give you more/less preload tension on the springs,
or changing the springs as well as the spacers for some weight related springs with the correct spacers, ie the springs are generally much shorter and tighter wound, with longer spacers, imo i'd steer clear of generic progressive springs cos one size don't fit all
but before you decide to spend some dosh on it, make sure the garage did the job properly ;)
did they use 10wt fork oil and did they put the correct amount in, too little oil would make it soft as, same for to light an oil
also the 3tj1 and 3en2 were made in the same year,
were they working from the right manual, the 3en2 had smaller diameter forks so less oil than the 3tj1
tbh unless they know their sh*t most garages could't tell the difference between a 1wg and a 3tj7 :o
