I adjusted my chain just before using the correct equipment. Afterwards I measured from the bottom of the chain to the end of the chain slider on the bottom of the swingarm without touching/pushing up the chain and it measures just over 20mm. So as i look at the chain its 20mm away from the end of the slider. Is this correct?

Before i adjusted the chain I could push the chain up with one finger and it touched the slider. Before adjustment the chain measured around 35mm from the slider without being touched.

you dont need to measure distances to the slider.

you need to measure how far you can move it from being tight.

Have a look at this, you dont need to worry about wheel alignment with the single sided swinger

Alright cool, so i should be able to push my chain up 15-25mm?. I saw a thread on here the other day saying to mesure 15-25mm from the slider lol.

Thanks for this, I was going to ask the same questions gibson has - haynes manual doesnt quite explain this bit in 'vfr 400 for dummies' terms
