Painting Plastics

Ive bought a replacement H piece for my NC30 which isnt the colour of my bike, I need to paint it black to match it up. How would I go about preparing the H piece to paint? Would I have to use some wet and dry to rough the existing laquer up for the spray paint to take to it? Would I have to use a primer? Plastic primer? Or can it just be roughed up slightly and painted black then laquered? What would be a decent laquer and paint? Thanks

Is the H piece still coloured plastic or has it been painted already? if its still plastic then just key the surface with some light grade paper, 1200 ish then plastic prime (which is clear), primer, colour then lacquer. If its already been painted and the paint is good ie not flaking off then just key the surface, put the colour on and then the lacquer.

Any decent local paint supplier will sell you decent paint in a spray tin

Yeh the H piece is brand new mate, just bought off ebay, so will it be actual coloured plastic then? Will 1200 be fine enough? And Will my local paint supplier be able to work off the black colour code on my bike, or should i take the original H piece to him to colour match? Thanks for your help mate
