Sad day :(

I was riding behind a mate of mine, just been to Matlock.
He put his brakes on as we came to the roundabout, I then applied mine and the fucking brake lever snapped off!
I ended up smashing into the back of him, the force knocked me forward then naturally back, as I've come back I've accelerated straight into the reservation with no brakes to stop me.
Caused some serious damage

Sad day :(
Yeah new front end.
The force of hitting the lights and front fairings bent every fairing bracket causing every single fairing besides the rear to break...
Mate needs:
Fairings repaired
Clutch cover repairing
mirror
Foot pet
Exhaust
Fairing screen
Brake lever
Bar end
I'll be buying all of the above ASAP as his bike is my priority.

Re: Sad day :(
You never heard of a rear brake? If a rear brake wasn't enough, you were riding too close.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Re: Sad day :(
Bad news indeed, hope your mate is ok too, the bikes can be fixed.
The lever snapping was a pisser, was it aftermarket?
I dont think the back brake would help that much, the front does about 70% doesnt it so if it doesnt work, you will sail on as far as it takes..... and in this case, it was into your mate.

Sad day :(
It was pissing it down with rain after a
sunny day. Rear wheel locked up.
Try going from your normal thinking distance and braking distance to then braking your lever and having to use just your rear brake whilst in the rain.
I'll do what you obviously do. Approach every braking point with the thought that my lever will just break and somehow transfer the 70% braking power of the front to just the rear when it's obviously going to lock up no matter how much you feather it. Also taking into account your mental state knowing your brake levers just broken.
You my friend must be a relative of Neo.
Nah buddy they weren't after market. Completely stock bike.
Few parts already ordered. Instead of rushing it back onto the road i'm going to fix it up properly.
Got a mate of mine who is going to ally weld my clutch cover back up.
