fzr 3tj 400/750
hi guys just wanted to pick some of your brains i have a complete frame and swinger but i have a spare yzf 750 engine as was wondering if this would fit as it, is basically a similar size to the fzr 600 engine so was just wondering if i could shoe horn this in without too much effort? also i have the r1 5jj yokes and i have r1 5pw forks ready and waiting?
i have done engine swaps before as i have a yzf 750/1000 thunderace engine
so i'm hoping it's not going to be too hard
so any help would be appreciated

Sell the 750 engine and buy a 600 4JH or T'Cat engine.
The 750 won't fit - it's close but ultimately you'd need to cut the frame a bit here and there, the carbs are to wide, the gearbox / clutch sits a bit to far back. The extra power will break the frame unless it's strenghtend and even if it is the front comes up to quick and down a bit hard too.
The best bit of the 600 conversion is the ease of it, the crank cases are common and externally it's only height of the head that's different. You need the ancillaries but it's all quite straight forward, esier than the T'Ace into the YZF.
Not sure about the R1 suspension but I expect the stem length would be different but once the 3TJ is pressed in (check the diameters) then the chances are they'll bolt up. CHECK the fork offset rake + trail. The 5JJ is the 2000 model and I think the 5PW is later ... didn't those yokes have a steeper angle and shorter offset ???? You'll need the rest of the R1 front end, 320mm discs would be a bit over braked

i checked it out it says professionally done ??? what in the shed the engine mounts look like they was made by his kids

and as for fitting the 600 engine it means selling mine then buying another one already got most of my bits so i'll think i'll give it a go

Im sure i read somewhere that r1 forks will fit cos the head bearings are the same. Not sure about the stem length
As for the forks early r1 forks had 35mm offset and later 5pw had 25mm but same angle

well i'm not too bothered about which yokes i use as i have a 4c8 yoke as well as the 5pw and the early 4xv/5jj yoke so i can change them when ever but i've started stripping my scrap 750 motor so i can make it lighter and easier to fit but when it start taking the cutting tackle to it i'll keep you lads upto date
