Dialling in suspension sag

So i've had a crack at sorting the sag on my RVF. The figures I have got to are as follows.

Code: Select all

                  Front Back
----------------------------------------
STATIC SAG 34mm 10mm
RIDER SAG 50mm 38mm
I know I could do with a stiffer spring in the rear shock but that's good enough for now. Its the front that i'm worried about. Far too soft and that's with the preload wound right in. I have a feeling the front already has aftermarket springs in, but for someone who is shorter/lighter than me.

I am 6'3" and 92kg with all my gear on. Is there anyone that is of similar weight that has found an alternative heavier front spring? Are the springs Rick Oliver sells stiff enough?

Cheersies

NC30 6ft 86kg bloke without riding gear so prob similar weight with. Have got RO fork springs and was able to back the preload way out to get a decent sag. Before they were wound all the way in and it still sank to the bottom of travel. MUCH better now.

Cheers for the reply. I had a feeling that would be the answer. I've done my best to try and find a better deal than Ricks, but cannot get close. I will be giving him a call tomorrow for one of his much hyped kits.

If you are going to be taking the forks apart? and doing seals? I would also do the gold valve upgrade from RO too. That will make a massive difference if you ride the bike hard. It's not essential but if you are getting the forks out and stripped (and you have the spare cash) it's well worth doing ;)
