my bike revs nicely to 14 000 rpm in 1st 2nd and 3th gear when the rev limiter stop it reving past it.( my bike is a gk75 bandit-v with the red cam covers a 91model i think). but after a mile or so it only revs to 12 000rpm in any gear...

i have bought a new coil- it didnt help anything with it.
i have swop jets(currently uses 105's)-but it didnt help- i get the exact 12 000rpm with 100,105 and 110's
i have bought new sparkplugs- it didnt made a anything
i have checked the the timing and valve clearence- also the same results and dont rev any further than 12 000rpm after a mile or 2.

i have checked the neutral diode and it works corectly the diode
i have checked the gear position switch under the sprocket and it works corectl but look somewhat damaged so i have thought maybe somthing happens when he heated up or something.

now i was thingking if it is posible to by-pass al this without replacing the cdi?

and it is not my rev counter that doesnt work cause at 14 000rpm i get 74kmh on speedo and at 12 000rpm only 60kmh.

pleaze i need help  :?:

if this only happens after a mile or two, its most likely fuel starvation, check all your fuel lines, fuel filters, tank breathers,

if thats not it check the float heights in the carbs and the carbs themselves for any crud that may be in there. ..

Hi thanx

I have checked and clean the carburater and the float height.

Is it posible to change the mixture with out changing the main jet?

I have noticed two jets(i think) in front of each carburater at the inlet side where the airbox attachess to and dont know their use(i think 1 of them is maybe the idle jet?).

Could the bike maybe runs to lean at high revs because it only revs perfect in the mornings the first few blocks and after that never again, even if i let it stand for a few hours or minutes?

At the moment i have only fitted a new exaust and i uses 105 jets with my standerd airbox.

hi chaps the gear position switch could be faulty or bad earth to gearbox switch try this mod :-

the pink wire between gear switch and cdi cut it connect a 15kohm resistor to it and it to earth the rev limit should be set for all six gears now if the limit is a few rpm to low you can use a combination of resistors to get 6800ohms that should sort it
