Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could help me.....I want to replace the front fender mounts [white plastic things that attach the fender to the forks] because theyre looking a bit shabby. However, in order to do so from what i cn see this involves removing the forks altogether. Has anyone had experience with this? Another problem is How to lift the front of the bike off the ground to get to the forks?

Yup, those mounts get wobbly after a while.

I used an abba stand on the centre of the bike and a regular car / trolley jack with a piece of wood on top under the downpipes/sump area to support the front.

Take the front wheel out
calipers off
RHS fork leg undo the 2 bolts
LHS fork leg undo and remove the axle
Undo the yoke bolts
Remove each fork

I have crash bungs fitted to mine, and although i havent tried it yet was going to put the rear stand on then lift the front wheel, kick a chock of wood under the tyre then support the front with axle stands under the crash bobins (mounted through engine) then lift - kick bit of wood out.

yer i was thing today that if i had crash bungs i could just jack it up using those but yer that sounds like it would work. I thought that maybe if i slid a metal pole under the steering head/triple clamp joint from one side of the bike to the other and then jacked up the pole with some engine stands....might have some stability issues though

Slide them up a little and apply one turn of 1/4 inch electrical tape to where the fit, slide them back over and it'll be very tight and not move.
