make sure you get it out of the back bedroom before you start putting it together else you might not get it down the stairs...

QUESTION:

Although I haven't had it on the road yet I did get the engine started and it sounded great - no knocks whines ticks splutters etc. I reallydont want to pull it apart in any way shape or form *BUT* the front of it is covered in crud! What is the best gear for trying to get the engine as clean as possible without resorting to stripping it down and aqua blasting???? Trying my best to get this looking really clean on reasonable £££.

I've got the same on my engine - as it's out of the fame I'd degrease it and then use a small wire wheel on a drill. Then spray it with 5 wheels silver or engine paint. When you start the engine allow it to warm only a small amount then switch it off and allow it to througherly cool. Then start it and allow it to get hotter before cooling completely. do it a few times so you cure the paint - if you heat it up to quickly the paint won't stay on the engine as long

Check the valves while the engines out!

Yeah, I don't mind doing the clutch and plugs myself while the lumps out but valve clearances I may transport the lump to a local mechanic I trust to do his best lolz

Collected some top-hat spacers tonight that a friend machined up to take the play out of the top shock mount. Got to nip to a nut & bolt place tommorow to pick up an M10x65 stainless bolt for it now. Coil holders and rubber flap in. Top rear engine mount in.

A friend machined the 3TJ handlebar end weights to fit the R1 bars - job done!

Have cleaned all the head bearing faces in the frame so those races are going in next, then I can try the R1/FZR4 lower fork mount. Got to see if the steering stops need filing down aswell.

Rear subframe, peg mounts, heel plates and rear caliper mount are now in to be powdercoated.

I've somehow got to make room in the shed for this another miracle in the making..........

You could say that. Today I couldn't help but fit the head bearings as I wanted to check if I would have to modify the steering stops...and as far as I can see all is good.





Of course once that was on it was easy to fit the forks etc.............



Putting it all in i can see I need a 12mm tall spacer to take up the slack for the steering stem.

The spacer for the rear shock worked a treat and it all went in easy.......too easy



Now I really am as far as I can go in this room lol.....or could the loom go in.......
