FZR400 FUEL FILTER?

Alright guys first post so go easy....
...Bought myself a 88 1WG (No ram air intakes) brilliant nick apart from the obvious fueling issues as it was left sitting in a garage for 5 months :/

First question of many (Probably) Will a FZR600 GENESIS 89-93 fuel filter fit on the 400? has anyone done this and if so, will the fueling need to be adjusted to compensate?

Cheers 'KEEP THE NOD'

I would think so. From the bikes I've had they have been the same on an FZR250 3LN3, FZR400 3TJ and my old FZR600 3HE Genesis. All have been the same physical size.

Be wary of buying cheap fuel filters that might disintegrate if you have to use E10 fuel.

You mean the aluminium ducts are missing? I'd source replacements if they are - they really do make a difference to the pickup.

Thanks! Thats good news, seen some shocking anodized filters on ebay (trying to keep her as standard as possible).

As for the intakes, there's nothing to make me believe it had any to begin with? It goes: Front fairing-Handlebars-tank, no plugged holes or spare hoses knocking about with the bag o bits i got with her :/

My question is- Is the extra Go-Go worth finding some half decent hoses and cutting holes out DIY style?

cheers

Post a pic of front of the bike or the area around and behind the handlebar.

All the air intakes on the FZR's are dummy - they do nothing and don't go through the frame into the airbox.

You probably have a Genesis model rather than a 3EN1 - have a look at the CDI the 3en has it as the part number.

Correct! an 86 Digital Ignitor with 1WG on it...

...So with my 88 Genesis 1WG EXUP (single seat) what am i missing out on that the 3ENG1 has? apart from dummy ram air hoses :)

Cheers

Do you have adjusters on the top of the forks and the little canister for the rear suspension by the ehaust hanger ????

If so .... well done you have a FZR400R SP

The SP is "sport production" and has some extra bits on it, like the suspension, single seat etc.

Thanks evil chicken it certainly looks like the SP (long time replying i know, 3 internet services are shoddy at best) been told there's a collar on the shock itself than can be twisted to adjust the rear... BUT i assumed it would be on the canister near the exhaust? reason iam asking is i think the last owner either (luckily) lived somewhere with silk-smooth roads or had a granite spine! any help on softening up the rear?
cheeeers.
