Hi guys.
I am having real trouble getting air filters to fit my GK73A, infact its impossible no one makes em to fit, no one
My only option is to have some custom made by K&N but for what thats gonna cost, and still with no guarantee of it running for another £200 I could get a new engine.
So my question is, does anyone know what engines will go straight into the GK73A frame ?
Ideally I would like a GSX-R 600 engine, but never having done an engine change before I dont know what am looking at, but if a Gixer 600 engine was to fit I would be prepared to get one and give it a go :D
Cheers.
Matt

don't know about engine replacement but on the air filter side of things - Do you still have an old filter? If you do you could just cut out the rubbish filter element and replace it with pipercross foam (i think thats what its called)

Hi Castrol :)
I was thinking that, take the large rubber inlet which joins the carbs to the airbox, pull this out the air box easily and cover the end in foam.
I looked at the itc socks but there very thick and I questioned if this would even work on a 400, plus they say your velocity stack as it were has to be a min of 25mm and I am not sure I would have that much.
I've spent 3 days solid now looking at solutions, filters wont fit, velocity stacks / trumpets wont fit, the carb is an egg shape, pod and even duel filters will never fit due to shape and lack of space, I am really thinking about a different set of carbs now, if anyone knows which would fit would be v.grateful :D

Hi Mike.
Yeah there wrong mate, the BMC has a flange ID of 60mm

and is for the FZR 1000, while the flanges will compress 4mm would put it at its absolute limit and I doubt it would be on well, plus the length of the BMC filter means you wouldnt be able to get the other one over the other two carbs
I am gonna look at replacing the carbs altogether I think for some better ones.
