Hi. I have a new fairing coming. Problem is every time I remove the fuel tank it scratches the front frame that supports the front headlight fairing panel. Is anyone else having the problem or is my technique all wrong? If you could help that will be great!! As I want to get them painted soon but don't want to scratch it.

Its a tight squeeze but not that tight.

I undo and remove the front bolt, remove the seat, remove the fuel tap knob and disconnect fuel pipe.

Lift the tank from the back by the seat, once the fuel tap is clear slide it back and up.

You could try wrapping some carboard round the metal support frame - old bog roll tube cut in two then twisted round.

I have taken the whole front section off and then the frame can be pushed forward about 10cm.

I had my bracket stripped and powder coated - £5! Take it off before you fit the fairings and it comes back like new and put it back on last.

Obviously the tank has to come off from time to time, but if you are undergoing some tuning or doing something that requires the tank to keep coming off, i use a plastic tomato sauce bottle as a temporary fuel tank.

Has enough juice to run a bike for 5 minutes or so and has the tapered nozzle to plug straight into the fuel line.
