Help - no fuel
Ok here I am asking for help again, have just installed new o rings (thank you variable valves suck) and put it all back together with care but when trying to start it just turns over and over but doesn't fire, have got spark and all pipes are connected. Doesn't appear to be getting fuel through as plugs appear dry! Any ideas guys ???

Turn the petrol tap to Prime (all the way to the right), that should sort it.

I'm having the same problem
But prime isn't solving it. My spark are also dry and I've just changed O'rings.
Has yours worked??

Even after fitting new o'rings if you have good sparks BUT dry plugs it is usually a problem with the pilot system.
Have you fitted the pilot screws up correctly with the o'ring THEN small washer THEN spring and finally the screw.
Have you removed the old o'ring as they can stick inside the carb body and be missed.

Ok have made slight progress in as much that plugs are now getting fuel through to them And it is actually nearly starting. Am I right in thinking left coil ( as if sittin on bike) should do cylinder 1 & 4 and right coil do 2&3? Because they were connected that way but didn't seem to be firing at all so have tried it as 1&3 and 2&4 and now seems much closer to starting , as in fires up briefly then stops. Really confused now, any ideas?

L/H coil 1&4, R/H coil 2&3.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Went and spent a couple of hours working on bike today hooked up ht leads correctly (1&4 2&3) and had yellow spark on 1 and 2 but good blue spark on 3&4, so put new set of cr9ek plugs in and have good blue spark on all 4 . When trying to start get smoke from exhaust , occasional murmer and pop like backfire but still won't fire up. Any ideas guys as loosing will to live with it!!!

The first start up from dry will always take a bit of time and cranking. I'd suggest that the next thing to look at would be the carbs. If they're not clean as a whistle and as near perfectly synchronised as possible, the first start up will always be a bitch.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Is it best to have carbs ultrasonically cleaned or is there a cheaper alternative?
Also will I need to change O'rings after? where can i get hold of all gaskets for them?
I bought the bike as a non runner (no cdi) so hasnt run for quite a while so don't know how well synched the carbs were but when it starts will sync with carb tune.

TBH, I've found ultrasonic cleaning a waste of time compared to proper chemical cleaning in a proper bath.
If you want a proper pukka job doing, get in touch with this guy. His name's Ian and he lives in Penwortham, Preston. 07739587264.
He does carb refurbs as a hobby so his prices are extremely keen. He's not so keen on banks of four but he will do them if you ask nicely.
I've just had a set off him for the GPZ and they are literally like new, £45. All metalwork is zinc plated, all new O rings and all new needles/jets/etc.
He's doing my old GPZ set up in exchange for an old set of FZR carbs I had lying around.
