Steering Lock weirdness on GK76a today

Okay am I missing something but something i havent seen before happened today when applying the steering lock on my GK76a, the bleedin main beam came on

, wtf?
Is this a loose connection ?
edit lol had removed key from ignition haha oops

That confuses me....I thought main beams stayed on!

I had taken the key out of the ignition ( oops should have said so in first part of post) and checked there was no switch on just in case, then put key back in ignition moved it only just slightly back a touch and it went off...Some electrickery goin on methinks .

Have you got a park light lock? some bikes have the lock and then another park light + lock just passed that.

This is correct, engage the lock then turn it a little bit more and the park light comes on. I found out the hard way....

Phew.. I really thought i'd lost the plot yesterday

when it happened and worried i was gonna have to trace an electrical fault.

If it was that then it would only put the side light on and not "high beam" as you said.
