Stupid Question Time
Hi All,
Here are two images, I hope. This is my incomplete collection of 1WG bits.
1/ Is this how the rear of the tank is supposed to fit?
2/ How is the back of the fuel tank supported?
In this position you can see the lower part of the tank is sitting on the rear shock support cross tube.
If I position the tank so that the rear tank tab is resting on the rear tank cover attachment bracket then the tank cover seem to be impossible to fit correctly. I hope that is just a little bit clearer than mud. I am going to bin the sub-frame and I need to get the tank and cover sitting where they are supposed to be. Yes, I know about the rear shock mount being part of the sub-frame. That is all taken care of.

Re: Stupid Question Time
Always a bad sign when you reply to your own post. However, there are two 'things' called locating dampers 1HX-24182-00-00 and two more 'things' called clamps 90465-13169-00. These items appear, from the parts book, to be located at the lower rear of the tank and form part of the attachment components. If anyone can take a picture of said mount, support or whatever it is called, I would greatly appreciate it. Don't worry, I will buy a complete 1WG one day.

Re: Stupid Question Time
the 3en1 has a 'bar' with two tabs to attach the tank to, but when you say 1wg, is that 'it's not a 3en1?'

Re: Stupid Question Time
Thanks for your reply, Taggy.
Yes it is not a 3EN1. The 3EN1 is the second model, as I understand it. It has a removable sub-frame. At least according to this document

I am still in the dark on this. So far I cannot find anything that holds the rear of the fuel tank. I can only assume that the M6 bracket at the lower rear of the tank (can be seen in the first picture) attaches to all the plastic paraphernalia, for example battery box etc, that is in turn attached to the sub-frame.
By "tank", I mean the fuel tank not the fuel tank cover. The 1WG has a bracket at the rear that locates the rear of the fuel tank, without any fasteners, and also has the two M6 attachment points for the rear of the fuel tank cover.

Have a look on USA e-bay or find a forum based over there. They got the Genesis later than the Japanese so their bikes are newer. If you can find a picture of it then you might be able to get one made for the bike.

Re: Stupid Question Time
Just got your email buddy although it hasn't shown up in my inbox here yet ;o)
If you have the right tank the rubber dampers either side should hold it in the right place.

Luckily I had a video of them as I was missing one awhile ago and a member on here helped me out I think.
soo from the front of the tank there should be a bar bolted on the front of the tank which then bolts onto two angle brackets bolted to the frame.
next there is a couple of those rubber damper thingies either side cable tied to the subframe to support the tank
then there is the tank tab bracket at the back.
here's a piccy

if it still doesn't fit together snug then is there a possibility you have an fzr600 tank or brackets? as they look more or less the same.
any probs come back to me and we'll thrash it out. If your throwing any parts out I'll ave em too ;oD

Re: Stupid Question Time
I don't remember rubber bits and zipties to be honest. This is the back of a 3EN2 tank - it bolts through grommets
