Track bike wiring

Started my track bike build project for the 1st time today and all seems good, engine starts easily and sounds crisp and my race loom works.
I still have a bit of an issue to sort out. As the top yoke where the ignition switch bolts on was broken I cut it off completely and smoothed it all in. Looks better, and the ignition switch is just extra weight.
My problem is now what to do to isolate the battery? Do most race bikes have a FIA style isolater in the main battery wire? Is it ok to just put a heavy duty toggle switch on the right side of the bike where the ignition plugs into the main loom?
Also, why does the fan also get routed through the ignition switch? I thought that would be wired to be able to come on while the bike is switched off, like most car fans.
Thanks in advance
