Fell in love...wasn't to be! (NC35)

I've just got back from viewing a very nice NC35. Had aftermarket body work fitted but original (non-standard colours) bodywork in box (all there and in v good condition). The bile was in v good condition and checked out ok, brakes, tyres, wheel bearings, exhaust, etc. lots of history as well. Problem? Wouldn't budge more than £95 on asking price...and that put it 'just' out of reach financially. Everyone has their limits...I suppose I keep looking & put it down to experience...it was a good experience I suppose to see one in good condition to compare future bikes with.

depends how much it was to start with really.
if you want a RVF then wait for one, they rarely fetch the asking price of 2k plus esp for something with non standard paint / panels.

Was up for £2695....I offered £2400 (rejected) so I said my max was £2500, but wouldn't take it..would only accept £2600. You live and learn, it's a shame though it was very nice, but with all negotiation you must have a limit and that was mine!

sounds like a lucky escape then, £2500 ?? what was it S or T reg with no miles ?
chap - seriously 2k buys a nice original RVF when they come up, ignore the ebay chancers or dealers for daft money they simply just dont sell for that.
oddly enough, NC30's seem to sell for more now and seem to be more in demand

Agreed, only a mug would pay that for a RVF with non OE panels.

Glad you said that...I liked it and I thought my offer was fair, it was a 'T' plate (1999) with 20,000 miles on clock. I'd like a 35 but would be more than happy with a 30, so I'll take your advice and wait, and keep an eye out on here for something.

And remember production stopped for NC35's in 1996 (i think

) anything newer is just a cock up in the import process or maybe a bike thats been sitting unregistered for years.

but to be fair we (well i have anyway) have had 14 years headstart
and have owned more 400's than i can rememeber. some prefer the 35, some prefer the 30, those who have had a few of each often tend to see the 30 as the one to have though.
not slating the 35, it does somethings better than my 30, but i personally prefer the 30 and the way it rides too. however use the 35 about twice as much as the 30 for general knocking around
