NC30 - Alloy race tank + fibreglass shroud

Post by lukemillar »

Hi,

Does anyone know anyone who makes an alloy race tank + fibreglass shroud to match the NC30 silhouette? I contacted BMC a while back, but theirs is based on 35 tank. While I think this may work with a bit of modifying, it's a few hundred $$ + shipping to NZ, so I am really keen on something that will just fit straight away!

Any leads would be great,

Cheers
Luke

BMC are the only company that I know of, but I'm sure there are others out there.

I don't think the rvf tank shape would be noticeably different on an nc30 (to most people) - or is this to suit race regs more than looks?

You could always lay up your own f/g tank cover and just buy the fuel cell.

This is probably what I will go with, but I thought I just put some feelers out in case there were other options worth looking at!

Not really. I don't think the shape matters, the question was more that if I'm going to spend that much money on one, I was kind of hoping to get a perfect fit, rather than having to modify it/the fairing brace! Also, I'm not 100% on how the NC35 tanks work with those air ducts. Are there holes in the tank to let the air through??

Haha! My f/g skills are pretty limited to repairing damaged fairings so far! Not that I am totally adverse to having a go.... ;)

I'm pretty sure the bmc tank cover won't use the air ducts, and the standard nc30 screen brace will probably fit.

Not sure that this bmc bike uses the f/g tank cover but it would look similar to this:

Simon Ed from here races one of these bikes, could always ask him (or bmc!).

Just have a crack! Once you have the mould made it's all downhill from there.

Get hold of Billy at race fairings pretty sure he's got a mould an can make you a cover. He does really good work. Then all you have to do is get a tank made up. Easy
