how loose / tight should the throttle be?

I was on a new bike the other day and noticed that the throttle is VERY loose. So easy to twist.
Mine on the other hand is a little bit sticky, maybe too much. It will sometimes get stuck. When I rip it off to sort out this sticking, how loose should I be aiming for? Loose like an '11 bike or is that never going to happen?

I prefer mine having a lighter feel.
A new cable and proper lube of the throttle tube can get it pretty good (and junk the return cable), though the carb springs dictate the overall throttle weight.
You can't get it as light as some newer bikes, especially if their throttle doesn't use a cable (electronic throttle)!

Thanks, I suspected something like that was going on. Was a 2011/12 blade so must have been some trickery like that. Will be stripping it down and seeing what I can do about it shortly.

There is some adjustment in the cable at the throttle housing. Pretty easy to fettle. I recently tightened up the one on my bike and it's got less 'slack' in the throttle.

as i found out if you try and tighten it too much to take the slack out off it it causes it to be stickey.
turned out that for me if it has a good bit of slack in the cable it seem to work better?

Hi, yeah there should be a bit of slack in the cables cos they stretch when you move the bars about. If the twist grip isnt springing back on its own quickly then i be giving the cables and butterfly spindles an oil.
Merry christmas.
