rs250 shock on nc30

Got a shock off ebay for £45, read about and searcehed a lot and think i have the basics down for what i need but just wanted to check.
im 11.5 to 12 stone so i need to buy a faulkner 850-900 spring?
I am running a 17" rvf wheel, the rs250 shock will gain me back the ride height i have lost, but my bike is only ever going to be a track bike, so ideally do i want to raise the ride height again with the rvf dogbone or will that be too high and become all twitchy and nasty??
The rod on the shock has a little bit of corrosion on it, is this something i can get rechromed or do i need to have a new rod installed?
I was going to sent the shock to reactive suspension, as they did reversecylinderjims shock, so have previous witht hem and understand what im asking them to do etc.
Extra shim to the compression stack?
Anything else?
CMSMJ1 or REVERSE CYLINDER JIM i know youve both done this mod and searched your posts and this is the basics ive picked up on, but feel free to correct me.

Hi is it a mark one shock or the later one with adjustable ride height?
As for the forks i would leave them standard as you might have the tyre hitting the v piece/rad when pulled through the yokes.

I run the later one and will measure my shock tommorrow for you if you want so you can compare it to yours and work from there.

I run the older shock and an RVF linkage on my road bike..with 18 inch wheels too. itis not too twitchy..
Forks are flat with the slight chamfer of the tops just above the yoke.
875 lb spring, for me, is too soft and I am 14st7 or more with kit on.
I'll be getting mine out the bike sometime soon..so should be able to measure it. It needs a refresh but is deffo one of the best mods to my bike. In fact, it is the only one that has stayed exactly as I did it years ago!

Cheers CMSMJ1,
Having read your posts about the shock its what made me decide against the expense of a Maxton,Nitron,Ohlins etc.
i found a post with all the spring dimensions that i need, but can I find the post again.......... can i buggery!!!
But its no bother as for once i wrote them down, Faulkner best place to get the spring, by best i also mean cheapest!!
I'll get it put on and for now i'll just drill the existing vfr link 8mm and see how it feels, then if all seems good i will sort a RVF link and dogbone out.
Only thing that concerns me is i'll have to use a 18" in the wet, as i aint shelling out again on a RVF 17" er. but if your running the rs250 shock RVF linkage combo and 18"'s then all should be good.
as its xmas think the shock revalve etc will have to wait till jan anyway so no mega rush with the shock length's lads.
Thanks

Just looked and mines set at 310mm (mounting hole centers) at the mo and im running an rvf linkage etc. Think 310 is what most aftermarket shocks come set at i.e Ohlins, WP etc.

Good idea, but be aware that drilling the link will effectively stiffen the spring rate. E.g. the spring will feel softer when you go back to an rvf linkage. Just a consideration.
