Suspension setup/overhaul
Any tips as to how I would set up my suspension or confirm it's good for my diminutive stature! I'm about 50kg.

You should start by measuring the front and rear sag to determine what spring rates you need. A quick google should provide you with a number of guides on how best to do it. Acquire the springs to suit and then you will most likely need to play with damping to best match the new springs.

Get yourself over to a suspension workshop http://www.mctsuspension.com/ or similar and get a new rear shock with correct spring rate and rebuild front forks...
You need a pro really if your a bit new to setup...

MCT have just done my forks for me. New springs, oil, seals etc, fully serviced and set up for my weight and riding style etc and cost was £140 plus vat. Quite happy for that and they are great at what they do.

If your bikes still on original suspension, depending on the age and abuse it has taken it might be well past it's best.
New suspension is going to be costly but depending on the state of your original and how hard you ride the bike it might be one of the best things you ever buy.
However, it doesnt' hurt to get the current suspension setup to it's optimal. Have a ride of the bike for a few days on your regular runs you know well and see how you find the bike. If it's stil poor or you have signs of a leaking shock / forks then an upgrade / overhaul is due.
Suspension tuning can be a bit like carb tuning and turn into wizardary. All is not lost though

I like this guide.. it's very straightforward, well explained and doesn't try to do everything at once.. take a few days and follow it through and you should get a good idea of how everythign works and base settings that you can tweak.
The 89 (K) model NC30 has softer suspension than the later models so will benefit even more from a new rear-shock and later model forks.
