Valve clearances on my 3TJ/1WG

After tomorrow the last job is valves. In truth I don't want to do them as I have the chance to put the fairings on for the first time since I owned it and would like to ride it for a while before they have to be done. Previous owner said he did them!
Anyone know what the gaps should be on a 1wg?
Torque of cover bolts?
Does the radiator have to be removed as do carbs?
Is it a real pain in the ass!
I need a new rubber gasket as it has seen better days!
I was thinking if they need doing get bike picked up by local dealer partly dismantled so they can adjust!
I really want to leave it for 4000 miles when I think I will service everything! I know exup was removed and straight through exhaust but apart from bad idle and slow traffic work which I ride around it goes really well and I love it to bits!!!!
As I say bad idle can be valves and it burbles on the over run but exhaust very loud so would hear every thing.
Considering everything the bike goes really well and come 7k revs takes off like a rocket, also starts very well when you have the knack and is bril on fuel, uses no oil and sounds nice.
Do you think it's save to leave it?
Thanks
Mark
