How do I cheak the tmeing on a FZR400

Before someone who knows asks do you mean ignition or valve timing?

if you mean cam timing you need degree wheel and dial gauge. You cannt do it your self if its your first time, try utube to see if there are any guides.

Thank you MarkT for your welcome, Yes it is ignitoin tmeing I have a goob spark and carbs from a runner but this engine will not fire just firers back at times though the carb's.

Through the carbs is usally an over rich engine - check the choke cable / mechanism isn't sticking open.

I doubt it's the timing - the pickup should be fixed and is on the right side of the crank (as you sit on the bike), but I'd check the ht leads aren't crossed first and then the coil electrics aren't crossed. Check the wiring diagram in the manuals section (I think it's on the front page of the forum). The HT's usually have numbers on but one coil feeds 1+4 the other feeds 2+3
