I finally found why my bike only starts with the clutch lever pulled in! Turns out for some reason a previous owner has cut off the clutch diode and taped the wires (nice and neat mind) back onto the loom! I dont have a clue about electrics so can anyone tell me what diode i need to put in to replace it?
Many thanks

The diode just plugs into a connector, can't see why it would be cut off.
If it has, either fit a new connector, or crimp single insulated female spades to the wiring loom.
There should be a retaining clip, but if not, tape and/or tie wrap the diode to the loom, not the frame.
NC30 diode part number, 31700 124 008.

It is (rarely) possible for the diode to fail. In that case, a bodger might be tempted just to hack it off. No idea what the spec is but 10p says it's something you can pick up for <£1 at Maplins and just solder inline.

But that is just the problem, he does not know the spec either.
It is a silicon diode rated the same as the starter relay circuit.
The common 6A should suffice, the negative to the light green/red wire, positive to dark green/red wire.
Or buy a second hand one for any Honda.
