				Pilot screws without EXUP valve on 3EN2

				Right, so my bike is all coolish, run it in over 500 miles, had some fun over the moors even if it's a bit of a bugger getting past traffic:) 
So now it's time to start fiddling and sorting out niggly bits. Fuelling has been a bit rich at low revs, and high temps, it can flood. So I've stuck a K&N air filter in and had the carbs off to check where everything is set. Turns out I had nipped one of the diaphragms, so sorted that and it's a bit better.
However, I haven't got an EXUP valve. I was wondering if I should adjust anything in terms of fuelling because of this? I've got the pilot screws on 2 full turns at the moment, and the main jet is moved lean one notch. The standard position for the pilot screws for a 3EN2 is 1 3/8 turns; any suggestions as to where stuff should be? Thanks if you can help.

				Man am I interested in this thread , so far most people tell me to get exup back on but a chap called bendy 3 has never run with exup and his bike is fine on standard carb settings. Whet country does your bike come from and have you yet taken out the plugs?

				On my 3en1 I've currently got my pilot screws at 1 3/4 turns (I've come all the way down from 2 1/2) - she's still a bit rich though, so am going to try 1 1/2 or even 1 1/4 this week sometime (when I get a mo...). I'd imagine that without the exup you'd have to run her a little richer at idle - I think the reduced back-pressure would lean it out a bit... I'm no expert tho

				To be honest the fueling is going to be leaner from the exup missing and a bit from the filter.
Take it to a dyno and have a diagnostic run otherwise you`ll chase the setting all other the place. If you want to get an idea without that have a look at a Gunsons Colourtune kit

				Its in the UK, a Jap import. It runs rich at 2 I'm sure, as it floods at times with a little throttle, when it's hot.
Unfortunately it got nicked, which is why I haven't responded. Not so important what the settings are when it's sat on the bottom of a canal unfortunately

I had one go before and it was just kids joyriding around on it. They did 800 miles or so, so they popped the fuel cap to put more fuel in! And wore all the way through the rear brake pads, and ground down the pistons. And then cracked the radiator, continued running it and seized the engine which cracked the block. I still paid the recovery fee and sorted it all out though... 
I'd have thought it was kids again, as I'd only get 800 for it or so, so why bother? It would make much more sense to nick almost anything else. But then, where the feck is it? Surely it would be burned out or dumped by now, so who knows. 
They cracked a d lock to get it as well... maybe it isn't kids. The paintwork is non-factory, so if you buy or see fairings with this paint job,let me know!

There's not that much else that could be used to identify it unfortunately. The bit of plastic between the seats is part of a window sill, and there's a random hole in the top of the coolant overflow bottle with a round plastic blivet glued on it... The back wheel is black and 17", with a 130/70 on it... that's about it.

				Would you believe... I've just got the call from the police. It was a kid... he's in a lot of pain and in custody, I'm glad to say. The description of the bike included the word "embedded", but apart from that it sounds pretty positive.
