Fitting a Scottoiler to 3TJ

Post by beasthonda »

Hi all I will be fitting a Scottoiler to my 3TJ this week.

Has any one fitted one of these before?
Main thing I would like to know is wrere the best place is to pick up a vacuum from the carbs.

Not had a look yet but thought some one must have fitted one and would know.

Thanks

There should be some take offs on the carb inlets can't remember if they're on the top or bottom though.

Had a look last night at the carbs to look for a vacuum bickup point.

Under each card between the bottom of the carb and engine there is a manifold with a screw.
Looking at a manual I think these are for fitting vacuum guages.

I tryed to remove the screw so I could fit the supplied spigot but as allways with these things they would not budge and started to round off.

There are a number of pipes on top of the carbs that go into fresh air but not sure what thase do.
Could some one please enlighten me.

My only other thought is to take to vacuum pipe to the air box and hope there is enough negative pressure in there at high RPM.

Those rounded screws are the ones you want. Try an impact driver with the right screw bit - you have to try and turn the driver and then hit it all at once. Or take one of the manifolds off and get a garage to loosen the screw, again use a bit that fits when you do this.

The tubes from the carbs are either overflows or breathers and the airbox probably won't make enough vacumn.
