FZR400R 3EN1 Exup a 1988 bike.
It should have 38mm dia forks with 285mm disks. the later blue spot calipers will bolt on.
It has 17" front and 18" rear wheel, 110 and 140 profiles (although you should be able to use a 150 on the rear).
The air intakes should be above the headlights (I id'd it from the rear panels and frame) joined with hoover tubes, they're fake btw. You can fit a FZR600 K+N airfilter but it doesn't make much difference to performance.

When the bike came in from Japan the registerred year was wrong, or it might have stood in a Jap showroom for a while.
Check the downpipes for rust - if they're bad walk away they're a Yamaha only part, not really expensive secondhand but not easy to find. Ask if the valves tollerances have been done, if they yes ask when and if there's a bill.

would it be worth getting and bunging r6 plastics on? or fightering.... it's cheap as chips but i duno if i cosmetically like it... pipes seemed clean. slight bit of corrosion on the rear shock but it looks like it's just surface

um ... no !!!!
Just ride it, do the routine maintenance and sell it when you're ready to move on. You won't mess the bike up and you should get your money back at the end of it. If you save the money you'd have spent then you could be well on your way to a real R6 rather than trying to fake one

As EC0 said - get it, ride it, enjoy it and then sell it for exactly what you paid for it (or more),
Don't try and make it an R6 or a streetfighter. Respect the old skool factor and just ride it!

Nope
It's a cheap bike. Lets say for sake of this disscussion it costs £500.
you'd need the R6 fairing complete, the rear panels complete, the saddle and pillion seat or cover, the lights front and back, the subframes and the screen ... possible cost £400 if your lucky. Then you need to fit it you might need to some welding skill or pay somebody to do it. Then you need a bit to fit over the hole by the saddle (cos the rear doesn't fit propperly). It looks odd though like somebody wearing clothes just a little to big.
So you pay another 500 to do the conversion, so now your bike is worth .... £550 if you can sell it, if you actually finish it.
A cheap R6 is £1200.
So as said before ... buy it, ride it, take your tests ride it a bit more and sell it.
