Headlight Wiring Issues

Post by speedstar »

Ok...

Bike is ready for an MOT on Saturday apart from the headlights.

The left hand light works fine. No issues with side lights, dipped beam or full beam at all.

The right hand side is kaput. I have sidelights, but the dipped and full are way to dim.

Ive swapped bulbs with a few good ones so i know the bulb is not the issue.

I put a multimeter across the terminals. The left hand side reads 12volts (or there abouts) as you would expect.
The right hand side reads a tad over 10volts. Not a massive difference but it seems enough to completely screwing up the headlights.

Does anyone know where this voltage drop could be occuring? Anyone come across a similar issue and is there a simple fix? (fingers crossed!)

Thanks guys - sure this forum will provide an answer. Hasnt failed yet!

I'm a keen believer in the philosophythat the next thing to break is the last thing you touched.

Is it possible removing the indicators and flasher relay could have an impact on the headlight circuit?
