Koso RX1n Wiring on NC30.

Having a go at installing a Koso RX1n that I picked up off a mate who had dug it out his garage. So its missing a few parts namely the temp sensors. As I could know up the wiring for the RPM. Anyone know which temp sensor is the best suited?

Anyone got contact details for someone that could supply the missing sensors also Id like to go with an mechanical to digital speedo sensor rather than the magnets supplied. Any links or contacts for these would be good.

As for wiring,Ive consolted the haynes manual and so far this is what Ive worked out, Although appreciate if someone could confirm these before I solder and heat shrink them. Not sure about the indicator lights.

Koso------------------------------------------------Loom
Grey/ Oil light (-ve) -------------------------------Blue/Red
Purple / EOBD Light ------------------------------- N/A
Green/ Fuel ---------------------------------------- N/A
Yellow/ High Beam (+ve) ------------------------- Blue
Orange/ L Turn Signal (+12V) ------------------- Orange
Blue/ R Turn Signal (+12V) ---------------------- Light Blue
White/ Neutral Light ------------------------------ Light Blue/ Red
Black/ Ground ------------------------------------- Green/ Black
Brown/ RPM --------------------------------------- ?
Brown/ Ign +ve ----------------------------------- Red?
Red/ +ve Battery ---------------------------------- Red?

As for the RPM whats the best way to go? The instructions say to wind it round the spark plug wire which I can imagine would be quite tempermental. Id rather tap in to the ignition control box but no idea which wire Id want, Id hazard a guess at the Black/white one. As that goes to cylinder one?!

You want No.6 and No.5 which is just an extension lead.

RPM wire is best connected straight the CDI, i cant remember which wire this is on the 30, someone will know.

Mechanical to digital convertors are available and look just like the stock unit.

Think i got my parts from here http://www.digitalspeedos.co.uk/

Thats great thanks, will send them an email now. ;)

As for the CDI wire the only one that I can see that runs from the unit to the tacho meter is the yellow/green one.

Got all the parts now, the mechanical to digital speedo just screws onto the end of the original one.

One question though where are the temperature sensors on the nc30? Theres one on the lower radiator although I thought that was for the fan or is it all linked together?

So looked at it and the 2 water sensors are tiny in comparison to the sensor in the lower rad.

Ive done a bit of googling and seems I may need an adapter for the sensors.

Got to say the instructions are useless at best.

Do you have any more pearls of knowledge for my Drunkn Munky? :)

I guess it's all sorted now, but I've just ordered a DB02R Koso dash and the temperature sensor for that is an accessory that plumbs into the radiator pipework.

There are two sensors.

The fan switch (this is on the lower rad) do NOT use this.

The water temperature sensor is plummied in by the thermostat housing on the front right cyinder.

It's tiny too so should be what your after. Look by the thermostat housing (where the rad connects too) and you'll see a small sensor sticking out with a connector on it.

Yer been fitted for a while, I ended up using one that gets plumbed in as I had finished putting it back together noticed the sensor I was meant to use! lol
